The McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) is system of assessment and management for spinal and extremity musculoskeletal disorders.
Using a systematic evaluation, we can determine that certain movements and postures can often provide a strategy for patients to control or eliminate their own pain and restore their function.

What Does MDT Involve?
MDT begins with a detailed history about your symptoms and how they behave. You will then be asked to perform certain repeated movements and/or adopt specific positions. You will be questioned about how your symptoms are affected during these movements and positions. How your symptoms and range of movement change with these repeated movements and positions provides valuable information to help classify the nature of your problem.
Using the information gathered from the history and assessment, the doctor will prescribe targeted exercises and procedures, including repeated movements and sustained postures to help you manage and abolish your pain so you can move better and feel better.
The emphasis is on you, the patient, being actively involved. By learning how to self-manage your symptoms it puts you in control of your treatment, safely and effectively.
